I have to say that we now live in an age where the state has become BIG BROTHER. Home educators are horrified that it is proposed that their children be interviewed at home without the partents present. This is a an invasion of privacy, it makes all home education parents suspects, and while I appreciate that some cop out reply will be given to what I have just said, it is things like this that make people think that politicians are heavy handed and people who cannot be trusted.
It would be a much better idea to stick to what we have so that parents work with the govornment so that it can be seen that they are educating their children to the required level. There has to be trust between parents and the Govornment and right now the Badman report will seriously damage that trust which is somewhat strained already.
You should also ask yourself why people want to take their children out of school. The fact is that the state has failed, and many home eductors take their children out because either the local school is just not up to it, or parents object to some of the things being taught in the school If you addressed these problems, then perhaps you would not have to have things like the badman report, and perhaps that is an appopriate name.
